When you disclose there is no going back. The world as you knew it is dead, and you now have to navigate an entirely new one as the people you love most recognize what happened to you. People are inherently going to view you differently. I’m not necessarily saying their perspective change will be bad or good; just different. Unfortunately, you may encounter those who view you negatively because of your trauma. On the flip side, you’ll likely encounter some people who give you entirely too much praise and/or virtue regarding your journey through your trauma. Then you’ve got your middle ground of people who won’t really register what it all means, or that just don’t really have a perspective change.
